Job description

The Engineering Manager will lead SRE teams focused on providing foundational block storage to various compute platforms at Apple. This role requires a strong leader with a passion for distributed storage systems and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams. The ASE Storage team is dedicated to enhancing Apple's infrastructure by implementing robust and scalable storage solutions. The impact of this role is significant, as it supports many of Apple's most popular services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • 10+ years of Management experience
  • Proven experience in a leadership role within a Storage Software Engineering or SRE team focused on distributed storage
  • Strong background in distributed systems and Block Storage
  • Deep knowledge of SRE principles, including monitoring, alerting, error budgets, fault analysis, and other common reliability engineering concepts
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Virtualization, and containerization
  • Proficient in at least one of the programming languages: Golang, Java, or Rust
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible)
  • Knowledge of security best practices and compliance requirements in storage systems
  • Understanding of data durability, consistency models, and storage performance optimization techniques
