Job description
Apple's OS Security team is seeking a motivated software engineer to develop containment and isolation mechanisms for their operating systems. This role involves designing robust software systems and crafting secure, high-performance code while collaborating with various engineering teams. Requirements
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience in systems programming and security.
- Strong C and low-level systems programming skills.
- Understanding of operating system internals such as macOS, iOS, BSD, or Linux.
- Ability to navigate and understand code across the software stack.
- Familiarity with past, current, and emerging security exploits and mitigation techniques.
- Excellent partnership and communication skills to collaborate with a broad range of engineering teams.
- Exposure to iOS and macOS as an end user, administrator, or developer.
- Involvement in open source technologies and development communities such as FreeBSD and Linux.
- Real world kernel and/or hypervisor programming experience.
- Experience designing and implementing security policy languages.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and deploy containment and isolation mechanisms throughout Apple's operating systems.
- Develop foundational technologies including compartmentalization and mandatory access control.
- Collaborate with teams from Silicon Engineering to Human Interface design.
- Create ergonomic APIs that connect security engineering to developers and users.
- Invest time into promising areas of research and development.
- Balance concurrent priorities and manage technical debt to meet tight schedules.
