Job description

The Reliability Engineer role at Amazon Robotics focuses on reliability data analytics to enhance product availability across various robotics programs. The team is composed of diverse engineering experts dedicated to solving complex problems through innovation and collaboration. This position requires a blend of hands-on reliability engineering and data systems expertise to improve evaluation capacity. The engineer will work closely with data engineering teams to develop tools and processes that support reliability assessments.

Requirements

  • BS degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
  • 3+ years of working in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience
  • Experience with data analysis tools such as Advanced Excel, SQL, Tableau, and Python
  • Knowledge of data engineering pipelines, cloud solutions, ETL management, databases, visualizations, and analytical platforms
  • Experience with AWS services including S3, Redshift, EMR, and RDS
  • Experience managing and deploying machine learning products
  • Experience with reliability tools such as Reliasoft, Minitab, JMP, or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Define data requirements and specifications for reliability pipelines and collaborate with data engineering teams to build ETL processes.
  • Perform data cleansing, validation, and preparation of reliability datasets to ensure assessment correctness.
  • Translate reliability engineering questions into data queries and assessment workflows to create scalable evaluation methods.
  • Develop and maintain reliability-specific assessment tools and automation using Python, AI/ML, and statistical libraries.
  • Design and specify dashboard requirements for reliability KPIs and operationalize production dashboards.
  • Identify gaps in available data and work with teams to close data gaps for new failure modes or test programs.
  • Establish data governance practices for reliability datasets to ensure reproducibility and auditability of assessment findings.
