The Senior Staff Software Engineer for Dataproc, Control Plane at Google will lead the architectural and infrastructural evolution of the control plane or service layer. This role focuses on enabling team and organization scaling while influencing software engineers across various areas of the Dataproc service. The position requires a deep understanding of cloud computing and software architecture, as well as the ability to solve ambiguous problems. The engineer will work on high-impact features that enhance the user experience for big data analytics in the cloud.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience programming in C++.
- 5 years of experience with design and architecture, and testing/launching software products.
- Experience with cloud computing and cloud APIs.
- Experience with software architecture and scalability.
Responsibilities
- Influence and coach a distributed team of engineers.
- Facilitate alignment and clarity across teams on goals, outcomes, and timelines.
- Define product differentiating features in an ambiguous problem space.
- Build high-impact customer-facing features which make Cloud Dataproc the best place to run Hadoop and Spark in the cloud.
- Influence and oversight across big data open-source initiatives including contributions to Spark, Flink, Presto, and more.
