The Senior Systems Development Engineer at Google Distributed Cloud is responsible for managing services and systems at scale, focusing on deploying and operating private cloud solutions for public sector and regulated enterprises. This role emphasizes automation, observability, and operational efficiency, while also fostering collaboration and mentorship within the team. The engineer will work with a variety of technologies, including Kubernetes and networking, to enhance the reliability of technical infrastructure. The position requires international travel and participation in on-call support rotations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT-related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience with systems automation, systems design, and implementation.
- 5 years of experience with technical infrastructure, including deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- 3 years of experience with Kubernetes or a similar container orchestration platform.
- 3 years of experience with TCP/IP networking and diagnosing network-related issues.
- Ability to travel internationally up to 25% of the time as needed.
Responsibilities
- Perform complex day-to-day troubleshooting and resolution of infrastructure issues.
- Participate in customer, partner, and internal team deployments requiring international travel.
- Own the IO persona experiences defined in GDC air-gapped product.
- Participate in the 24x7 on-call rotation to support escalations from client deployments.
