Job description
Microsoft is seeking a Software Engineer II to join its Azure Data engineering team, focusing on transforming analytics through innovative database solutions. The role involves working on mission-critical functions for Azure SQL Database and contributing to the development of enterprise-class relational database engines. Engineers will collaborate in a diverse team environment, driving advancements in database systems while ensuring high performance and reliability. Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field and 2+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and test code for product features, services, or tools with minimal oversight.
- Contribute to code reviews to improve code quality and provide feedback to develop other engineers' skills.
- Apply best practices for secure, reliable, and maintainable code while contributing to automation and tooling improvements.
- Act as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI), monitoring systems and resolving complex live-site issues.
- Conduct incident retrospectives to identify root causes of problems and implement repair actions.
- Work cross-functionally with stakeholders to understand requirements and dependencies.
- Invest in skill development to stay current with technologies that improve performance, observability, and reliability.
