Job description

NVIDIA is seeking a Senior Research Scientist for Rendering/Path Tracing to drive innovation in real-time graphics. This role involves defining the next generation of path tracing and related systems challenges while collaborating with a talented team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in rendering theory and practical coding skills. You will be responsible for developing advanced rendering algorithms and transferring successful ideas to product teams.

Requirements

  • PhD or equivalent experience with a strong publication record in rendering algorithms.
  • 10+ years of combined experience as a graduate student, industry or academic researcher, rendering engineer, or applied researcher.
  • Demonstrated experience developing advanced rendering algorithms and a track record of high-quality artifacts.
  • Strong coding skills with knowledge of C/C++, GPU programming models, parallel programming, and Python.
  • Deep understanding of rendering theory, sampling, and graphics systems.

Responsibilities

  • Brainstorm, invent, publish, and productize novel methods to improve path traced imagery.
  • Implement prototypes of research ideas and transfer successful concepts to product teams.
  • Collaborate with NVIDIA researchers, engineers, and external academics.
  • Help define team research topics and guide other researchers and interns.

Benefits

  • Employees at NVIDIA are often offered comprehensive, day-one benefits—including medical, dental, and vision coverage with HSA support, life and disability insurance, an Employee Assistance Program, and a 401(k) with auto-enrollment. Many roles also have generous time off and holidays, donation matching (up to $10,000), and a wide menu of extras like FSAs, commuter benefits, legal and identity-theft protection, pet insurance, and wellness discounts. Optional programs can include student-loan and home-purchase support, plus family care resources and expert medical services.
