Job description

The Security & Compliance Engineer role at AWS Security Assurance Services focuses on designing, building, and deploying security and compliance solutions for highly regulated customers. The team aims to establish scalable security solutions that drive business outcomes while ensuring compliance with various frameworks. The engineer will work autonomously, lead projects, and mentor junior engineers while driving measurable risk reduction for customers. This position requires a blend of technical expertise in security and compliance with strong programming skills.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of programming experience in Python, Ruby, Go, Swift, Java, .Net, C++, or similar object-oriented languages.
  • 2+ years of experience in scripting, programming, and security code review in a common programming language.
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field or experience in IT Security.
  • Knowledge of networking protocols such as HTTP, DNS, and TCP/IP.
  • Experience with threat modeling and penetration testing.
  • Experience in any combination of application security frameworks, security code reviews, incident response, and secure software development.
  • Experience with AWS products and services.
  • 5+ years as a technical specialist, including 3+ years in secure coding or cloud security engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Lead threat modeling, security design reviews, and architecture reviews for customer engagements.
  • Design and implement custom preventive, detective, and proactive controls.
  • Build secure-by-design Infrastructure-as-Code controls for various architectures.
  • Apply AWS security best practices for authentication, data handling, and encryption.
  • Write and review Infrastructure-as-Code, scripts, and detections.
  • Build continuous compliance monitoring and automated evidence collection pipelines.
  • Integrate custom controls with AWS-native and third-party security tools.
  • Drive emerging-edge ideas into prototyping new security solutions.
  • Identify risks and propose implementation paths.
  • Help develop technical content and identify cross-team patterns.

Benefits

  • Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
