Job description

This position involves providing database engineering support to an agile development team, focusing on SQL, PL/SQL, Java, Python, and NodeJS. The role emphasizes applications database administration, particularly with Oracle, and includes performance analysis and query tuning. The candidate will also work with cloud database platforms, specifically Amazon Web Services (AWS), to design resilient database systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in database architecture and administration within a financial services environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field and five years of experience as a Principal Data Engineer, or a Master's degree and three years of experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in database architecture topology design and reviews.
  • Experience performing database migrations from on-premises to heterogeneous clouds using Oracle data pump and AWS DMS.
  • Proficiency in database instance and query tuning for real-time mission-critical applications.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement highly resilient cloud database platforms using distributed and relational database technologies.
  • Establish database standards for operations, upgrades, migrations, and onboarding new applications or clients.
  • Write clear and concise technical documentation to maintain standards and procedures.
  • Provide database development support in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Leverage agile methodologies for data model review, SQL performance, and data injection.
  • Develop and drive database performance standards and initiatives.
