Job description

The Principal Data Engineer will design and deliver data lakes, data warehouses, and reporting platforms, primarily using the Snowflake Cloud Platform. This role involves developing data and analytics solutions while providing technical guidance on relational database technologies. The engineer will work with teams to support multiple source databases and automate deployment pipelines using AWS and various programming tools. The position requires a strong focus on data integrity, testing, and documentation across multiple projects in a financial services environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field and five years of experience as a Principal Data Engineer.
  • Alternatively, a Master's degree in a related field and three years of experience as a Principal Data Engineer.
  • Demonstrated expertise in translating business requirements into technical validations using SQL, Python, Java, and Scala.
  • Experience in automating CI/CD pipelines using Stash, GitHub, Jenkins, and uDeploy.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain data structures, batch jobs, and interfaces to external systems.
  • Develop original and creative technical solutions for ongoing development efforts.
  • Support and perform all phases of testing leading to implementation.
  • Assist in the planning and conducting of user acceptance testing.
  • Develop comprehensive documentation for multiple applications.
  • Establish project plans for projects of moderate scope.
  • Perform independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects.
  • Manage data services hosted on operational data stores and file-based interfaces.
  • Confer with systems analysts and other software engineers to design systems.
