Job description

This role involves building a transformative data and insights platform for Amazon Autos, focusing on enhancing how automobile dealers and partners engage with the ecosystem. The team is dedicated to creating a scalable API layer and optimizing data processes to drive smarter decision-making. As a software engineer, you will contribute to the design and delivery of key features, working at the intersection of data engineering, AI/ML, and product development. This position offers a unique opportunity to work on a greenfield project that will serve as the backbone for the seller and partner ecosystem.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience or a Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language.
  • 3+ years of experience designing or architecting new and existing systems.
  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing, and building ETL pipelines.
  • 3+ years of experience in the full software development life cycle, including coding standards and code reviews.
  • Experience with big data technologies such as AWS, Hadoop, Spark, Pig, and Hive.
  • Experience building services using AWS products.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and own major components of the data platform.
  • Produce high-quality, testable, and maintainable code autonomously.
  • Implement and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines using AWS-native and big data technologies.
  • Contribute to system design discussions and propose solutions for complex technical problems.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, data science, and partner teams to deliver shared goals.
  • Build and maintain APIs for external partner integrations.
  • Own the operational health of your components and participate in on-call rotations.
  • Support the growth of teammates through code reviews and design feedback.
  • Work within an agile team to deliver software features and improvements end-to-end.

Benefits

  • Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
