Amazon Industrial Robotics is looking for a Principal Software Engineer to lead the development of simulation and automation capabilities for advanced robotics systems. This role involves establishing Amazon's simulation competency at scale and serving as the technical authority for simulation frameworks and automation pipelines. The engineer will collaborate with internal robotics teams and influence product design from concept to deployment. A strong background in simulation engineering and software platform management is essential for success in this position.
Requirements
- 15+ years in software engineering or related technical disciplines
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field
- Experience leading complex, multi-system projects from conception to delivery
- Proven track record of influencing senior leadership and driving technical decisions
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement large-scale distributed systems
- M.S. in Engineering or related technical field
- Experience in functional decomposition and model-based simulation engineering
- Experience in rapid prototyping and agile testing methodologies
- Technical publications and patents
Responsibilities
- Provide the architectural vision for a digital twin-based, AI-driven autonomous validation framework.
- Enable software hooks to realize digital twin capabilities and launchable instances with metrics and observability.
- Interface with the platform team to enable adversary testing of the simulation platform.
- Provide virtualized dynamic environments for testing software in field environments.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards through virtualized environments for software qualification.
