Job description
The Optical Network Development Engineer role within AWS Infrastructure focuses on building, operating, and rolling out global DWDM networks. The team is responsible for ensuring high quality and reliability in network services while collaborating with various departments on new designs. Engineers will tackle complex problems and drive operational excellence projects to enhance network performance. This position requires strong communication and project management skills in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements
- 1+ years of automation scripting using Python, Bash, Shell, and/or Perl experience
- 4+ years’ experience with the rollout and operations of large DWDM networks and Optical network technologies
- 3+ years’ experience with optical planning and modelling tools
- Knowledge of network design, protocols, and troubleshooting
- Experience working in a fast-paced, rapidly changing operations environment
- Experience with network, system, or software architecture
- Thorough understanding of deploying and operating high capacity DWDM and Optical network systems
Responsibilities
- Build, operate, and rollout global DWDM networks
- Drive scaling of current DWDM designs to meet customer demand
- Create processes that help operate and build the DWDM network
- Work closely with other Networking departments on new designs
- Ensure that the DWDM network adheres to defined network standards
- Review and implement changes on the DWDM network
- Drive operational excellence projects to improve DWDM network quality and reliability
- Troubleshoot complex problems and develop innovative solutions on the network
