Job description
The PXT Central Science team is seeking a Data Engineer to enhance data architecture and accelerate analytics within the employee intelligence workstream. This role involves collaborating with economists and scientists to develop solutions that identify causal factors affecting employee sentiment and business outcomes. The team utilizes various technologies, including AWS services and machine learning, to improve processes and outcomes for Amazonians. The Data Engineer will play a crucial role in building scalable data pipelines and ensuring data quality.
Requirements
- 3+ years of data engineering experience
- Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS
- Experience with data modeling, warehousing, and building ETL pipelines
- Experience with AWS technologies like Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, Lambda, and IAM roles and permissions
- Experience with non-relational databases or data stores
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or equivalent
- Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR
- 4+ years of full software development life cycle experience
Responsibilities
- Design and maintain scalable data pipelines using native AWS services
- Develop and maintain APIs and data serving layers for science models
- Build scalable feature extraction and processing frameworks for diverse data types
- Develop robust data quality and validation checks
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate analytical requirements into production-ready solutions
- Maintain layered data systems used by economists and scientists
- Build automated reporting solutions across multiple interconnected AWS accounts
