Job description
The Data Center Civil Engineer at AWS will lead civil engineering designs for Amazon Data Centers, working within a creative and efficient design team. This role involves providing technical design guidance, managing external consultants, and solving large-scale implementation issues. The engineer will contribute to the design of innovative Data Center sites while ensuring safety, security, and cost-effectiveness. Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience in commercial, warehouse, and/or industrial site-civil design.
- Professional Engineer License.
- Experience in industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities.
- Proficient in AutoCAD Civil3D, Bluebeam, and MS Office Suite software.
- Knowledge of mission critical equipment and systems, design process, and construction requirements.
Responsibilities
- Manage external civil design consultants through the Data Center design and construction process.
- Review designs for site layout, grading, power substations, storm water, utilities, and pavement.
- Coordinate with internal and external MEP design engineers.
- Communicate design standards to internal and external project partners.
- Develop and maintain design standards, prototypes, and template specifications related to site design.
- Coordinate with AWS Due Diligence and Real Estate teams to determine site selection criteria.
- Create, review, and release design RFPs for various projects.
- Manage multiple fast-paced projects simultaneously.
- Lead initiatives aimed at improving cost, quality, schedule, and consistency.
- Travel for site assessments and internal design meetings, with anticipated travel of approximately 25%.
