Job description
The Optical Validation Engineer at Google Cloud will support the development and testing of optical transceivers and related technologies. This role is part of the Optical Validation Team, which focuses on new product introduction and post-production testing. The engineer will collaborate closely with hardware and software teams to evaluate and characterize the performance of cloud computing and networking products. The position involves maintaining lab infrastructure and ensuring a clean and organized environment for rapid development.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 1 year of experience in optical transceivers and testing.
- Experience with lab test and measurement instrumentation, including fiber optic active and passive devices.
- Experience working with compute and networking systems.
Responsibilities
- Support test development for new and existing optical product designs.
- Create and execute comprehensive validation plans to ensure quality adherence.
- Develop and automate optical test instrumentation using Python and vendor APIs.
- Operate wafer probe stations and conduct high-frequency measurements.
- Analyze, troubleshoot, and root cause field failures of optical transceiver modules.
- Maintain lab infrastructure and manage equipment to ensure a functional R&D environment.
