Job description

The Senior Substation Engineer - Physical Design role at Jacobs focuses on supporting utility and developer clients in the energy sector. This position involves working closely with Transmission & Distribution delivery teams to develop Substation Physical design deliverables for various projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in interfacing with clients and ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. Additionally, mentoring team members and participating in industry events will be part of the responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Advanced Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Power Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) within the United States or ability to obtain additional PE licenses if needed.
  • Minimum of 8 years of direct Substation Physical design experience with a utility or consulting organization.
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of High Voltage substation components.
  • Prior experience in development of substation physical designs from conceptual through the development of IFC drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Substation Physical design deliverables for utility upgrades including greenfield/brownfield and AIS/GIS substations.
  • Interface directly with utility/developer clients to understand their standards and provide feedback.
  • Act as an independent technical advisor representing owner's interests.
  • Mentor team members across North America and globally.
  • Participate in the sales and proposal preparation process for new contracts.
