Job description

Arcadis is seeking a Stormwater/Stream Restoration Engineer to join their Resilience Water Team in Arlington, Virginia. This role involves collaborating with experienced water professionals to lead the development of stream restoration and ecological enhancement projects. The engineer will interact with clients and enhance their technical and project management skills. The position emphasizes sustainable solutions for natural and built assets.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in stream restoration, natural channel design, or related water resources engineering.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Biological Systems, or a related field of study.
  • Possession of a Professional Engineering (PE) license.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, plan, design, permit, and manage stream restoration, natural channel design, and watershed improvement projects.
  • Lead tasks and support project delivery from concept through construction, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and regulatory agencies.
  • Perform, lead, and coordinate field assessments, data collection, and analysis for stream restoration projects.
  • Develop and support stream restoration design plans, including grading, stabilization measures, in-stream structures, and riparian enhancements.
  • Prepare and review hydrologic and hydraulic models and support floodplain and channel stability analyses.
  • Lead task-level project delivery, including developing scopes of work, managing budgets and schedules, and coordinating internal teams and subconsultants.
  • Support and contribute to preparing proposals and building strong client relationships.
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies, support permitting efforts, and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.
  • Prepare reports, design documents, presentations, and other deliverables, and actively participate in client meetings and stakeholder coordination.
  • Mentor and support the development of junior engineers and technical staff.
