Amazon Web Services is seeking a Senior Product Design Electrical Engineer to join the Electrical Products and Services team. This role focuses on the design and development of critical electrical power distribution equipment for AWS data centers, particularly busduct systems and tap-off boxes. The team is responsible for ensuring high standards of safety, reliability, and cost-effectiveness in electrical distribution products. Candidates will work collaboratively with various internal and external teams to drive innovation and continuous improvement in engineering designs.
Requirements
- 6+ years of data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field
- Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment
- Experience developing solutions and executing plans on complex projects
- Experience in industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities
- Professional Engineering or Architectural License is preferred
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region
- Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents
Responsibilities
- Work with internal partner teams to solicit customer input and define design requirements for product design.
- Lead new product design, development, and qualification of critical electrical power distribution equipment for AWS data centers.
- Develop Capex and Opex spending budgets considering development costs with vendors and prototyping needs.
- Work with global suppliers and manufacturers to specify appropriate busduct and TOB components.
- Ensure compliance with UL, CSA, IEC, and federal, state, and municipal requirements across different countries.
- Validate design through prototype, pre-production, and first-of-kind builds.
- Work with field engineering and commissioning teams to test and validate installation and performance of products.
- Provide support for manufacturing activities for new products on concurrent projects.
