Job description

As a Software Development Engineer (SDE) on the Raven Team, you will focus on building the next generation of physical security automation for AWS data centers. This role involves developing software for security device lifecycle management, particularly through the Skyward platform, which automates the provisioning of security devices. You will collaborate with a diverse team of engineers and specialists to ensure the highest standards of safety and security. The work you do will directly impact the efficiency of bringing new AWS data centers online.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of design or architecture experience of new and existing systems
  • 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
  • 1+ years of experience designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications using C#, C++, Java, or Perl
  • 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language
  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience

Responsibilities

  • Design and build backend services, APIs, and orchestration workflows that automate security device provisioning at global scale.
  • Develop integrations with internal systems for device discovery, network configuration, and operational monitoring.
  • Build event-driven architectures using AWS services to process device lifecycle events in real time.
  • Contribute to AI/ML-powered features that automate device naming and configuration.
  • Partner with security engineers and project managers to translate operational workflows into scalable software solutions.
  • Help evolve and maintain the red zone access and compliance platform.
  • Own deliverables end-to-end from design through deployment and operations.

Benefits

  • Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
