Job description
This role involves designing and implementing innovative features for Apple's headphones and accessories, focusing on both embedded firmware and system software. The team is responsible for creating seamless connectivity and exceptional user experiences for products like AirPods and AirTags. Engineers will tackle unique challenges across the full stack, from real-time embedded systems to host-side frameworks. This position offers end-to-end ownership of critical software components, impacting millions of users worldwide.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or equivalent experience
- Strong C/C++ programming skills with attention to code quality, performance, and maintainability
- Solid understanding of systems programming concepts such as memory management, concurrency, state machines, and event-driven architectures
- Strong analytical and debugging skills with the ability to solve complex problems
- Experience with Objective-C, Objective-C++, or Swift
- Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS), embedded systems, firmware, device drivers, or low-level system software
- Knowledge of real-time audio or wireless technologies
- Passion for product ownership and a track record of delivering features end-to-end
Responsibilities
- Design and implement new features for Apple's wireless accessories
- Develop software solutions spanning both embedded firmware and system frameworks
- Debug and resolve Bluetooth protocol issues and optimize audio latency
- Collaborate with team members to create a seamless connected experience
- Take ownership of critical software components on both sides of the wireless connection
