Job description
The Commissioning Engineer at AWS is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the commissioning of critical infrastructure for new construction and special projects. This role involves working with various systems including power systems, HVAC, and BMS. The engineer will collaborate with vendors and contractors to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards. The position requires a proactive approach to communication and reporting on project status.
Requirements
- 3+ years of engineering, installation, or startup/commissioning of electrical and mechanical systems experience
- Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Experience with the design, construction, operation, or maintenance of mission critical facilities, especially data centers
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region
- Knowledge of commercial or industrial power systems or mechanical systems
- Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production
- Experience using a variety of web-based and other software tools for calculation and data processing
- Ability to relocate to the Chicago or South Bend, IN area
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally for up to 80% of the year
Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate multi-discipline division of work related to design review and commissioning of Amazon critical infrastructure.
- Support vendors, contractors, and teams involved in the construction and commissioning of various systems.
- Develop and review electrical and mechanical component and integrated systems testing along with commissioning documents.
- Ensure all commissioning procedures follow appropriate safety practices and policies.
- Audit commissioning activities continuously to ensure compliance with environmental, quality, and safety requirements.
- Communicate proactively with the ACx Regional Manager and the ACx team regarding test documents.
- Provide comprehensive weekly reporting of the status of all ongoing projects, lessons learned, and program improvements.
