Job description

The Senior Data Scientist role at Google focuses on supporting the Core Ranking and AI Context Engineering team. This team is responsible for enhancing Google's key products, including Search and AI features. The position involves solving complex challenges and providing insights to improve user experience. The ideal candidate will work closely with engineers and product managers to drive measurements and insights that elevate Google's search capabilities.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, Operations Research, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
  • 5 years of experience using analytics to solve product or business problems, coding (e.g., Python, R, SQL), querying databases or statistical analysis, or 3 years of experience with a PhD degree.
  • 8 years of experience using analytics to solve product or business problems, coding (e.g., Python, R, SQL), querying databases or statistical analysis, or 6 years of experience with a PhD degree.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with engineers and product managers to identify quality and metric headrooms.
  • Conduct rigorous analyses of large-scale datasets and apply statistical/AI methods to solve complex problems.
  • Present actionable insights and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Develop evaluations and measurements to guide iterative improvements.
  • Automate evaluations and measurements in collaboration with engineering and product teams.
