Job description

The Engineering Manager for Persistent Disk at Google will lead a team of software engineers focused on designing, developing, and deploying a highly scalable I/O stack for Google Cloud's Persistent Disk. This role involves not only technical leadership but also managing project goals and contributing to product strategy. The team plays a critical role in managing large-scale data solutions that support various Google services. The manager will navigate complex technical challenges and influence cross-functional stakeholders to drive strategic initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in a technical leadership role with or without direct reports.
  • 5 years of experience in software development.
  • 4 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.
  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of software engineers, actively supporting their career development.
  • Provide technical leadership to guide the team in designing, developing, and deploying a highly scalable Persistent Disk I/O stack.
  • Partner with and influence cross-functional stakeholders across Persistent Disk and Google Compute Engine to drive strategic initiatives.
  • Navigate ambiguity to define, scope, and solve complex technical challenges.
