Job description
The Network Operations Engineer role at Google focuses on the deployment, maintenance, and operations of private data networks globally. You will collaborate with various teams, including Technical Program Managers and Network Engineers, to ensure efficient network operations. The position requires working in a rotating shift environment within a network operations center. Your contributions will help build a reliable and scalable network for Google's customers and users worldwide.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering, Telecom Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 2 years of experience in DWDM, TCP/IP, or system design operations methodology.
- Experience working with field operation technicians, engineers, contractors, or vendors in a telecommunications environment.
- Ability and willingness to work in a rotating shift environment within a network operations center.
- Fluency in English to support client relationship management.
Responsibilities
- Respond to network outages by diagnosing Layer 1 to Layer 3 network errors and initiating repairs.
- Develop workflows and systems to diagnose optical Layer 1 and Layer 3 network issues.
- Participate in 24/7 global team shift rotations.
- Provide remote support for field operations related to network repairs.
- Communicate repair status and updates to level customers as needed.
