Job description
The Staff Physical Design Engineer at Google will lead the end-to-end physical design implementation of complex silicon projects. This role is part of the AI and Infrastructure team, which focuses on delivering advanced capabilities and insights through custom silicon solutions. The engineer will drive technical excellence from RTL to GDSII and oversee critical sign-off closures. The position requires collaboration with internal teams and external vendors to optimize power, performance, and area.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 10 years of experience in physical design, leading full-chip or complex subchip implementation.
- Experience in Python, Tcl, or Perl scripting.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the physical design implementation of complex blocks, subchips, and top-level designs.
- Manage the full design cycle from RTL to GDSII, including critical sign-off closures for timing and electrical performance.
- Partner with internal teams to achieve optimal power, performance, and area results.
- Collaborate with external EDA and IP vendors to improve flows and methodologies.
- Own and plan the physical design execution schedule, actively communicating status and risks to management.
