Job description

The Staff Hardware Systems Engineer for Watches at Google will lead the hardware integration and electrical architecture for next-generation watch products. This role is part of the Pixel Watch Electrical Engineering team, which is responsible for the end-to-end hardware development of Google's first-party watch products. The engineer will work closely with product managers and various engineering teams to ensure optimal performance and user experience. The position requires a strong technical leader who can navigate complex hardware challenges and drive innovative solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of experience working in a consumer electronics technical environment.
  • 3 years of experience in technical leadership.
  • 10 years of consumer electronics experience, specializing in HDI design, FPC, and rigid-flex assemblies is preferred.
  • Experience in advanced packaging to drive system miniaturization.

Responsibilities

  • Drive end-to-end electrical architecture for space-constrained devices using advanced packaging technologies.
  • Act as the technical linchpin, collaborating with mechanical, RF, sensors, and display teams to resolve layout collisions.
  • Lead data-driven trade-offs balancing size, performance, cost, and thermals for development.
  • Guide New Technology Introductions to integrate novel hardware components into product design.
  • Ensure design for manufacturability by overseeing rapid prototyping and validation of early-stage systems.
