The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will be part of a team focused on developing custom silicon solutions for Google's direct-to-consumer products. This role emphasizes driving on-time delivery, continuous improvement, and strategic cost reduction in manufacturing processes. The engineer will oversee the end-to-end manufacturing lifecycle of Cloud hardware, particularly in areas like PCBA and system assembly. The position aims to transition towards a 'Smart Factory' ecosystem by leveraging AI and predictive maintenance.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience in Surface Mount Technology (SMT) and final assembly process development.
- Experience in PCBA, system integration manufacturing, and NPI process development.
Responsibilities
- Provide dedicated on-site support at Contract Manufacturers and drive root-cause investigations for assembly issues.
- Define capacity requirements via time studies and lead the technical manufacturing definition for RFQs.
- Drive early New Product Introduction (NPI) engagement and own the Design For Manufacturing/Design For Assembly process.
- Manage production-released hardware through End of Life, overseeing assembly yields and process controls.
- Implement automation and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce cycle times and maximize product quality.
