Uber is seeking Ph.D. students specializing in Applied Science for a 12-week internship during Fall 2026. Interns will work closely with a product team to address real-world challenges and collaborate with various professionals, including Data Scientists and Software Engineers. The Commerce, Trust, Safety and Support (CTSS) team focuses on applying data science to enhance customer support, safety, and risk management. Interns will engage in hands-on model development, experimentation, and project implementation.
Requirements
- Current Ph.D. student majoring in Operations Research, Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, Machine Learning, or other related quantitative fields.
- Candidates should have at least one semester/quarter left of their education after finishing the internship.
Responsibilities
- Work with a mentor to define a business problem and scope a project.
- Perform deep-dive analyses to discover root causes for safety issues.
- Present findings to leaders to inform decisions.
- Support statistical and machine learning efforts including modeling and experimentation.
- Drive the implementation and scaling of developed solutions.
- Utilize and learn software engineering tools and concepts.
