Job description

The Senior Software Engineer will join Microsoft's Azure Data engineering team, focusing on building modern developer tooling for Azure SQL and the SQL Server platform. This role involves leading the development of innovative features that leverage AI-assisted workflows to enhance developer productivity. The SQL Developer Experiences team aims to create high-quality tools that enable developers to build data-driven applications efficiently. The position emphasizes collaboration with engineers, product managers, and designers to deliver exceptional developer experiences.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Build and enhance Visual Studio Code extensions and developer tools for Azure SQL and SQL Server platform.
  • Develop AI-assisted workflows and GitHub Copilot experiences for data developers.
  • Lead feature development end-to-end, from concept and design through implementation, release, and support.
  • Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and designers to deliver modern, high-quality developer experiences.
  • Use AI and modern engineering tools to accelerate development and improve team productivity.
