Job description
The Lakehouse Performance Engineer at IBM will focus on measuring, defending, and improving the performance of the watsonx.data platform. This role involves running benchmarks, building harnesses, and managing the infrastructure that supports performance analysis. The engineer will collaborate with various teams to ensure performance improvements are effectively implemented and documented. This position is critical in maintaining IBM's competitive edge in the data lakehouse market.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- At least 2 years focused on performance engineering, benchmarking, or SRE for a data platform.
- Strong programming skills in Python, Go, or Java.
- Working knowledge of modern analytics engines and open table formats.
Responsibilities
- Run and maintain reproducible benchmarks across watsonx.data configurations.
- Build and curate customer-representative workload suites.
- Ensure every published result is reproducible end-to-end.
- Operationalize cost-per-performance metrics and produce scorecards.
- Develop dashboards that surface performance trends and regressions.
