Job description

The SAP S/4HANA Indirect Tax Implementation Managing Consultant role at IBM involves leading tax workstreams on complex S/4HANA implementations. This position requires a combination of deep indirect tax expertise, SAP technical knowledge, and consulting skills. The consultant will work closely with cross-functional teams to bridge tax compliance requirements with system configuration. The role offers the opportunity to innovate and support clients in their financial and digital transformation journeys.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of consulting experience with at least two end-to-end SAP implementations.
  • Minimum of 1 year as a tax business user with a strong background in indirect tax and accounting processes.
  • Minimum of 1 year as an SAP user with working knowledge of FI, SD, and MM modules.
  • Minimum of 1 year working with tax engines such as Vertex or Avalara.

Responsibilities

  • Manage indirect tax implementation workstreams on large-scale SAP S/4HANA projects from design through go-live.
  • Configure and optimize indirect tax functionality across SAP FI, SD, and MM modules.
  • Design and implement tax determination solutions, including integration with third-party tax engines.
  • Analyze complex indirect tax requirements across multiple jurisdictions and translate them into system specifications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including tax professionals, SAP technical consultants, and client stakeholders.
  • Drive consensus and problem-solve among diverse stakeholder groups with competing priorities.
  • Conduct fit-gap analyses and recommend best practice solutions for indirect tax processes.
  • Research and independently develop understanding of indirect tax regulations across various countries.
  • Support testing, training, and change management activities related to tax processes.
