Job description

Apple is looking for an expert Client Engineer to integrate Responsible AI mitigation assets across various deployment surfaces, including on-device models and server-side inference. This role involves bridging client engineering and machine learning deployment, focusing on safety classifiers and mitigation policies. The team is dedicated to advancing Responsible AI initiatives for generative AI products, ensuring user protection while fostering product innovation. The engineer will take ownership of the architecture, implementation, and integration of these systems to deliver high-quality AI experiences globally.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of professional experience, with at least 5+ years in iOS/macOS application development in both Objective C and Swift.
  • Expertise in Apple's Core iOS and Foundation frameworks.
  • BS in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience in shipping impactful mobile frameworks used by others outside your direct team.
  • Experience leading the architecture and development of complex, high-performance production systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to technically lead projects, mentor engineers, and drive cross-functional initiatives from concept to delivery.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of on-device ML runtimes and the model-export lifecycle.
  • Working knowledge of frontier/LLM models including token-streaming inference, tokenization, and buffering strategies.
  • Experience building applications that utilize modern ML/AI technology.

Responsibilities

  • Own the integration of Responsible AI mitigation assets across deployment surfaces.
  • Drive the architectural vision, design, and implementation of safety classifiers and mitigation policies.
  • Take end-to-end ownership from concept to delivering robust and maintainable solutions.
  • Work closely with multiple stakeholders to ensure safeguards advance user protection and product innovation.
  • Define mitigation architectures and oversee their implementation in production.
  • Contribute to modeling, tooling, frameworks, and evaluation methods to improve the safety of generative models.

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
