Job description
Qualcomm IT is looking for a Senior IT Engineer to design, build, and maintain cloud infrastructure and automation within a multi-cloud environment. The role involves working closely with the Cloud Account Management team to develop tooling and drive Infrastructure-as-Code practices. This hands-on position requires strong AWS fundamentals and software development skills, with a focus on delivering technical solutions for secure and efficient cloud resource management. The role is based in San Diego, CA and requires full-time onsite work.
Requirements
- 3+ years of IT-related experience with a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or engineering, or 5+ years without a degree.
- Hands-on experience with AWS in production environments, including core services like IAM, VPC, and account management patterns.
- Proficiency with Infrastructure-as-Code tools, preferably Terraform.
- Scripting and automation skills in Python, Bash, or equivalent.
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop automation tooling for cloud account provisioning and lifecycle management across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
- Own and improve Infrastructure-as-Code modules and pipelines for consistent and secure cloud resource deployment.
- Provide technical guidance on account structure, IAM patterns, networking, and workload placement.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for cloud infrastructure delivery and automated testing.
- Drive improvements to cloud governance automation, including compliance checks and self-service capabilities.
- Develop and maintain scripting and tooling to streamline operational workflows.
- Troubleshoot and resolve cloud infrastructure issues and support incident response.
- Contribute to IAM strategy and security policy enforcement.
- Support FinOps practices including tagging governance and cost allocation.
- Document architectural decisions and operational runbooks.
