Job description

Qualcomm is seeking a motivated engineer to join the Modem System Test team in San Diego, focusing on next-generation wireless technologies including 5G NR and emerging 6G systems. The role involves applying AI/ML techniques to enhance engineering workflows and products. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to test, characterize, and commercialize modem products for global markets. The ideal candidate should be eager to learn and comfortable in a collaborative environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of digital and wireless communication systems, signal processing, and RF propagation.
  • Knowledge of 5G NR PHY, MAC, RLC, PDCP, and RRC protocols.
  • Programming skills in Python and MATLAB.

Responsibilities

  • Support verification and performance evaluation for complex digital modem products across 6G and 5G cellular technologies.
  • Validate end-to-end system functionality and performance across the cellular protocol stack.
  • Define modem key performance indicators and evaluate system performance based on testing data.
  • Develop and execute system-level test strategies, methodologies, and test plans for modem features.
  • Analyze 3GPP specifications and carrier requirements to create robust validation scenarios.
  • Perform log analysis, debugging, and root cause investigation of modem issues.
  • Support feature integration, certification, and commercialization of global wireless products.
