Qualcomm is seeking a Senior Staff Data Engineer to design, build, and operate a modern data platform using Databricks Lakehouse. This role emphasizes building reusable data frameworks and standardized pipelines to support analytics and advanced use cases, including AI and machine learning. The position requires hands-on involvement in data engineering, framework development, and platform reliability. It is a full-time onsite role based in either San Diego, CA or Boulder, CO.

• 7+ years of IT-related work experience with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field, or 9+ years of IT-related work experience without a Bachelor’s degree.
• 5+ years of work experience with programming languages such as Java or Python.
• 3+ years of work experience with SQL or NoSQL databases.
• 3+ years of work experience with data structures and algorithms.

• Design, build, and maintain scalable batch and streaming data pipelines.
• Develop reusable data engineering frameworks, libraries, and templates for data processing.
• Establish standardized patterns for data modeling and pipeline orchestration.
• Implement end-to-end data workflows from raw ingestion to analytical datasets.
• Leverage AI-based techniques to automate and optimize data engineering workflows.
• Define and monitor SLIs/SLOs for data pipelines and platform availability.
• Participate in incident response and post-incident reviews.
• Drive adoption of standardized data frameworks and best practices across teams.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
