The Physical AI Model Optimization Engineer at Qualcomm will focus on optimizing robotic AI models for deployment on Qualcomm Dragonwing chipsets. This role is part of the Qualcomm Advanced Robotics Team, which is dedicated to building an AI-first platform for next-generation robots. The engineer will work with existing Qualcomm tools to enhance the performance of AI models, ensuring they meet real-time operational requirements. This position offers the opportunity to directly impact the development of advanced robotic systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field and 4+ years of relevant work experience, or a Master's degree with 3+ years, or a PhD with 2+ years.
- 3+ years of experience in embedded or on-device AI, model optimization, or performance engineering.
- Strong hands-on experience with quantization, pruning, compression, and mixed-precision tuning.
- Experience using vendor-specific AI optimization pipelines, preferably Qualcomm's.
- Proficiency with PyTorch, including model graph manipulation and conversion workflows.
Responsibilities
- Use Qualcomm's internal AI toolchains to onboard and optimize large-scale research models for Dragonwing deployment.
- Apply quantization, compression, and mixed-precision workflows to meet latency, memory, and power constraints.
- Execute hardware-aware graph transformations and operator adjustments using Qualcomm's graph tools.
- Profile model performance across heterogeneous compute using Qualcomm profiling utilities.
- Validate the accuracy and runtime behavior of optimized models on real robotic hardware.
- Build automation and reproducible processes around Qualcomm's toolchains to enhance onboarding throughput.
- Collaborate with platform and robotics engineering teams to integrate optimized models into production systems.
