Job description

Qualcomm is seeking a highly skilled engineer to optimize the mapping of AI workloads to next-generation system-technology solutions. The role focuses on identifying system and technology bottlenecks for emerging AI workloads, including mixture-of-experts and multimodal physical AI. The candidate will collaborate with various functional teams to develop an implementation strategy that meets system requirements. This position is primarily located in San Diego, CA, and requires onsite presence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field and 6+ years of ASIC design experience, or a Master's degree with 5+ years, or a PhD with 4+ years.
  • Thorough understanding of E2E system KPI dependencies such as power, performance, and TCO.
  • High proficiency in scripting languages such as Python.
  • Exceptional creativity to innovate new ideas and develop innovative products or processes.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Map AI workloads to Qualcomm's next-gen AI accelerator systems using internal and external tools.
  • Conduct what-if scenarios to optimize different underlying components for power-performance-TCO trade-offs.
  • Identify relevant AI workloads for different business units from datacenters to physical AI.
  • Collaborate with high-level representatives across functional teams to enable an implementation strategy.
  • Analyze and interpret complex data to solve problems related to AI workload mapping.
