As a CPU Synthesis CAD engineer at Qualcomm, you will work with a talented team to develop and support high-performance synthesis and implementation tools. Your focus will be on ensuring custom CPUs achieve industry-leading power, performance, and area. You will collaborate with worldwide CPU physical design teams and EDA vendors to enhance methodologies and resolve tool issues. This role requires a strong background in synthesis and place-and-route for high-performance chips.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 6+ years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 5+ years, or a PhD with 4+ years.
- 8+ years of hands-on experience in synthesis and place-and-route of high-performance chips.
- High level of proficiency in Tcl and Python.
- Experience with automation and front-end tasks including logic and physical synthesis, LEC, UPF, and front-end signoff.
- Strong user of synthesis tools such as Cadence Genus or Synopsys Fusion Compiler.
- Experience with advanced technology nodes (5nm or lower).
Responsibilities
- Develop, integrate, and release new features in the high-performance synthesis CAD flow.
- Architect and recommend methodology improvements for power, performance, and area.
- Maintain, support, and debug synthesis and implementation flows.
- Work closely with CPU physical design teams to provide synthesis methodology guidance.
- Collaborate with EDA vendors to define roadmaps and resolve synthesis tool issues.
- Write and review detailed technical documentation for complex CPU designs.
