Job description

Qualcomm is seeking a Systems and Mixed Signal Design Engineer to join their Fingerprint Sensor team, focusing on developing innovative biometric solutions for mobile devices. The ideal candidate will have experience in mixed-signal design and systems engineering, capable of architecting and designing advanced sensor circuitry. This role involves applying advanced CMOS mixed-signal IC design methodologies and conducting system analysis to optimize performance and power. The engineer will also collaborate with various teams to ensure optimal sensor and system-level performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 6+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience, or a Master's degree with 5+ years, or a PhD with 4+ years.
  • 7+ years of Mixed Signal Design and Systems Engineering or related work experience is preferred.
  • Experience with algorithm development, validation, and system-level performance characterization.
  • Strong understanding of hardware/software interaction, including firmware development and hardware/software co-optimization.
  • Hands-on experience using CADENCE, SPICE, MATLAB, Verilog/VHDL, Python and lab equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Participate or lead the definition, design, and verification of advanced sensors.
  • Drive a full-cycle development, including system modeling, sensor pixel design, and optimization across key performance metrics.
  • Develop hardware specifications for ASICs, sensors, and module components.
  • Translate system-level requirements into sensor architectures and optimized sensor designs.
  • Execute sensor circuit- and pixel-level simulations using industry-standard tools to validate performance.
  • Perform system-level studies such as architecture exploration and performance trade-off evaluations.
  • Develop algorithms to improve system-level performance.
  • Guide and review pixel-level and block-level layout to ensure performance and manufacturability.
  • Debug circuit, pixel, and system-level issues and refine designs based on simulation insights.
  • Support sensor bring-up through lab measurements and functional validation.
  • Collaborate with system, firmware, product, and test engineering teams to achieve optimal performance.
  • Prepare clear technical documentation and design descriptions for stakeholders.

Benefits

  • Qualcomm offers competitive compensation, annual bonuses, stock programs, comprehensive healthcare coverage, retirement plans, wellness programs, parental leave, flexible work options, and professional development opportunities.
