JobsCPU Post-Silicon RAS Engineer
Job description
Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. is seeking a post-silicon CPU RAS engineer focused on Silent Data Corruption (SDC) and Silent Data Errors (SDE) on ARM ISA-based CPUs. The role involves reproducing, detecting, and root-causing failures that escape detection, often seen in customer environments. The engineer will work closely with various teams including Customer Engineering, architecture, and firmware to drive root cause analysis and mitigation. This position requires hands-on experience with validation boards and customer platforms.
Requirements
- Strong programming skills in C, Python, and ARM assembly.
- Solid understanding of computer architecture concepts and out-of-order execution.
- Experience debugging silicon failures.
- Ability to reason across hardware, firmware, OS, and workload behavior.
- Strong analytical and communication skills for addressing customer-impacting issues.
Responsibilities
- Develop and run C and assembly tests directly on silicon to detect silent corruption.
- Build robust correctness oracles to catch subtle wrong-answer failures.
- Analyze and root-cause customer-reported issues with symptoms such as data corruption.
- Work closely with Customer Engineering to reproduce issues in lab or customer-like environments.
- Triage logs, dumps, and limited telemetry to provide clear technical root-cause hypotheses.
- Use post-silicon debug techniques including performance counters and JTAG.
- Reduce issues to minimal reproductions to enable efficient handoff to RTL and architecture teams.
- Integrate high-signal SDC tests into ongoing datacenter stress and regression flows.
Benefits
- Qualcomm offers competitive compensation, annual bonuses, stock programs, comprehensive healthcare coverage, retirement plans, wellness programs, parental leave, flexible work options, and professional development opportunities.
