Job description
The role is for an experienced engineering leader to build and lead the data engineering organization within Apple's Media Services. This team is responsible for designing, developing, and operating large-scale data pipelines that power customer-facing features and critical analytics. The focus is on evolving data architecture to support AI applications while maintaining high standards for reliability and privacy. The leader will collaborate across engineering and business organizations, influencing platform strategy and fostering a high-performing culture.
Requirements
- 10+ years of engineering experience, including 5+ years leading large engineering organizations with multiple layers of management.
- Proven track record of recruiting and developing leadership talent.
- Deep architectural expertise in large-scale data systems.
- Demonstrated success in planning and executing large-scale technology modernization programs.
- Experience leading geographically distributed engineering teams.
- Exceptional communication skills to engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Hands-on experience with large-scale data processing and streaming technologies.
- Background in AI and machine learning applications within data engineering contexts.
- Experience operating data platforms at consumer-internet scale.
- Familiarity with Apple's privacy principles or equivalent experience.
Responsibilities
- Direct a large organization responsible for the design and operation of massive-scale data pipelines.
- Lead the team through the evolution from traditional data pipelines to an AI-first paradigm.
