Job description

The role is for a product development engineer within KLA's Surfscan Division, focusing on the development of next-generation inspection tools for semiconductor wafer substrates. The team is responsible for transforming market and customer requirements into system configurations and ensuring the successful integration and launch of these tools. Candidates will work closely with various functional groups and engage with customers to resolve system issues. This position requires a deep understanding of optical design, sensor technology, and image processing techniques.

Requirements

  • Doctorate degree with no related work experience, Master's degree with 3 years of related work experience, or Bachelor's degree with 5 years of related work experience.
  • Experience developing inspection or metrology is preferred.
  • Experience with semiconductor manufacturing is preferred.
  • Project management skills in scoping, budgeting, and scheduling are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Transform market and customer requirements into system configurations.
  • Develop novel inspection solutions to improve sensitivity and throughput.
  • Design experiments to validate ideas.
  • Define system error budgets and translate system requirements into sub-module requirements.
  • Collaborate with key functional groups to ensure the success of tool integration and product launch.
  • Own the creation and execution of prototype test plans for the entire system and complex subsystems.
  • Engage with customer technical development and drive the team to resolve system issues at customer sites or in manufacturing.
