Job description

This role involves working as a Colo Regional Engineer within AWS Infrastructure Services, focusing on data center design and operations. You will collaborate with various teams to ensure the highest standards for safety and efficiency in AWS data centers. The position requires a strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural systems in critical environments. You will have the opportunity to influence design standards and improve processes on a global scale.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • 5+ years of industrial or commercial engineering experience in mission critical facilities
  • Professional Engineer License
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is preferred
  • Experience with building codes and regulations for your region

Responsibilities

  • Conduct site assessments against AWS standards for collocation data centers and telecommunications facilities.
  • Review vendor critical infrastructure designs and perform risk analysis for collocation data centers.
  • Troubleshoot and conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for site/equipment failures.
  • Support operational issues with training and complex operating procedure reviews.
  • Own the design for existing data center upgrades to improve availability and efficiency.
  • Initiate and lead engineering site audits within Amazon's owned or colocation data centers.
  • Act as resident engineer during new construction projects, supporting commissioning and turnover.
