Job description

As an SDE-2, you will work on an AI-powered desktop application that assists knowledge workers in managing their digital workload. The role involves building infrastructure for AI agents, focusing on real-time event processing and local knowledge graphs. You will be part of a small, high-ownership team that values end-to-end ownership and collaboration. This position offers the opportunity to influence architecture decisions and see your work directly impact users.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience with design patterns, reliability, and scaling
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language
  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement core systems for the desktop application's agentic runtime, including task scheduling and agent lifecycle management.
  • Build and evolve a local knowledge graph that captures relationships between people, projects, and topics from the user's work environment.
  • Develop integrations with external services using standardized protocols, focusing on security and permissions.
  • Own the memory and context management layer, solving problems around information retention and retrieval.
  • Contribute to the cross-platform desktop experience, ensuring performance and reliability across macOS and Windows.
  • Write production code in Python and TypeScript/JavaScript with an emphasis on clean abstractions.
  • Participate in on-call rotations, operational reviews, and architecture discussions.

Benefits

  • Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
