Job description

Netflix is seeking an ambitious software engineer to join the Model Development and Management team, focusing on building a self-serve user interface layer for the Machine Learning Platform (MLP). This role will primarily involve working on personalization models and collaborating with applied researchers and data scientists. The engineer will gather requirements, design, and implement products to accelerate model development for personalization use cases. The position offers opportunities to contribute to open-source projects and develop expertise across the full machine learning lifecycle.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of full-time software engineering or machine learning experience with a bachelor's and master's degree, or a PhD degree.
  • Experience developing platform solutions such as SDKs, developer frameworks, or internal tooling used by ML Researchers, ML Engineers, and Data Scientists.
  • Excellent software design and development skills in Python along with one of Scala, Java, or C++.
  • Experience working on or alongside modern, large-scale ML services.
  • Familiarity with ML workflow orchestration, experiment tracking, or feature/data infrastructure, ideally with tools like Metaflow, Airflow, Kubeflow, or MLflow.
  • Broad understanding of core machine learning concepts and their application in large-scale, real-world machine-learning systems.

Responsibilities

  • Gather requirements and design products that help accelerate model development for personalization use cases.
  • Implement the self-serve user interface layer for Netflix’s Machine Learning Platform.
  • Engage with the ML community to source feedback and identify pain points.
  • Collaborate with applied researchers and data scientists on machine learning projects.
  • Partner with the OSS Metaflow development community to ensure a mutually beneficial roadmap.

Benefits

  • Employees at Netflix are often offered flexible, people-first benefits—unlimited time away, generous parental leave, global family-forming support, mental-health programs (mindfulness, free counseling/coaching), and health coverage tailored by country. Financially, Netflix pays at personal top-of-market and lets employees choose their mix of cash vs. fully-vested 10-year stock options, alongside donation and volunteer matching. Convenience perks can include trust-based travel/expense policies, relocation support, and “Work, Not Drive” rideshare flexibility.
