Amazon Web Services' Hardware Engineering team is seeking experienced Industrial Engineers to enhance the cloud computing platform. The role involves optimizing the production floor to maximize efficiency and minimize waste while collaborating with various teams. Engineers will take full ownership of the manufacturing process for server and rack products. The position requires regular travel and a focus on continuous improvement in a dynamic environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering or a related field.
- 6+ years of experience in high volume manufacturing operations or sourcing environments.
- 2+ years of Manufacturing Engineering work experience with server platforms or high-tech hardware.
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing process development.
- Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production.
- Experience managing products across multiple factories at scale.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the process for an entire family of server/rack products.
- Design and optimize the physical production floor to maximize throughput, minimize waste, and balance workloads across stations.
- Perform time/motion studies, line balancing, material flow, workstation ergonomics, capacity modeling, and value stream mapping.
- Identify bottlenecks in the process and propose solutions to meet capacity needs.
- Conduct benchmarking across multiple sites worldwide, focusing on throughput per square floor and labor productivity.
- Support global operations through regular domestic and international travel.
