Job description

The Credit Automated Trading team at Morgan Stanley is seeking a researcher to develop AI-driven tools and models for algorithmic credit trading. This role involves collaborating with traders and technology partners to create automated trading solutions that enhance desk performance. The focus is on managing risk, predicting liquidity, and trading at scale using modern analytical tools. Candidates should be creative, driven, and able to take ownership of their projects while delivering impactful results.

Requirements

  • 2–5 years of experience in a quantitative role.
  • Advanced degree (PhD, Master or equivalent) in quantitative fields such as math or statistics.
  • Experience applying modern technologies, including AI, to solve quantitative and modelling problems.
  • Solid understanding of probability, statistics, machine learning, and optimization.
  • Proficiency in Python, with familiarity in Q/Kdb+, Scala or Java being beneficial.
  • Basic understanding of financial markets, with knowledge of fixed income preferred.
  • Ability to explain a model to a trader and discuss implementation details with technology.

Responsibilities

  • Use modern analytical tools and LLMs to improve models and speed up development.
  • Develop and improve real-time pricing models for corporate and sovereign bonds.
  • Identify patterns driving trading flow and translate them into actionable signals.
  • Own initiatives across the full lifecycle of electronic trading from research to deployment.
  • Partner closely with bookrunners, strats, and technology to deliver solutions.
  • Enhance the back-testing and research framework to accelerate idea generation.
