Job description

The Thermal Manufacturing Engineer role at Google focuses on developing manufacturing processes for thermal assemblies within the Thermal Manufacturing Engineering team. This team is integral to delivering cooling solutions for Google Cloud and supports the innovation behind Google's direct-to-consumer products. The engineer will leverage their expertise to enhance manufacturing processes and product designs, ensuring high quality and efficiency. This position involves collaboration with various teams to drive improvements and support high-volume manufacturing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in manufacturing.
  • Master's degree in Engineering is preferred.
  • 5 years of experience overseeing yield improvements and cycle time reductions for high volume and high complexity parts.
  • Experience with manufacturing fixture design.
  • Experience with operations and supply chain management.
  • Familiarity with multiple processes such as machining, welding, brazing, soldering, sintering, stamping, skiving, assembly, die casting, injection molding, and leak detection.

Responsibilities

  • Lead product development teams responsible for developing manufacturing processes and driving implementation of manufacturing solutions for thermal assemblies.
  • Support concurrent engineering efforts through effective communication of design, process, tooling, and material changes to manufacturing partners and design engineering peers.
  • Provide manufacturing engineering expertise in supplier selection, qualification, process and cost optimization, failure analysis and recovery, and supplier management.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing processes and product designs.
  • Identify process, tooling, and automation opportunities to support high volume manufacturing and deliver increased product quality.
  • Provide front line support for manufacturing quality issues and guide design issue resolution.
