Job description
The Cell Material Engineer role at Google focuses on developing and qualifying Li-ion cells in collaboration with external partners. The position is part of the Platforms and Devices team, which aims to enhance user interaction with computing through innovative technologies. The engineer will work on optimizing cell designs and evaluating new materials to improve energy density and safety. This role requires a combination of technical expertise and collaboration with advanced material suppliers and R&D partners.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Material Science, or Engineering discipline, or a specialized field.
- 4 years of experience in developing and qualifying Li-ion cells with external partners.
- Experience using Statistical Process Control tools and data tools such as Python, SQL, or Matlab.
Responsibilities
- Identify, evaluate, and prototype new cell chemistries and cells in lab/pilot environments.
- Drive Design of Experiments to optimize cell design and evaluate novel materials.
- Partner with advanced material suppliers and external R&D partners to co-develop components.
- Define and execute qualification matrices to evaluate advanced components and conduct performance analysis.
